Frequently asked questions

How many words fit in a word search?

About 10 to 15 words fit well in a 12 × 12 grid. For more or longer words, choose a bigger grid. Words that do not fit are listed so you can shorten them or enlarge the grid.

Can I use spelling or vocabulary words?

Yes, and it is a great way to review them. Paste the week’s list, one word per line. Spaces and punctuation are removed automatically.

Is there an answer key?

Yes. Leave "Include answer key" on and a second page shows every word highlighted.

Which level should I choose?

Easy (across and down) for early readers, medium (with diagonals) for most elementary kids, and hard (backwards too) for older kids and adults.
